There aren't many music projects that could be so creative and unique to mix Asian folk, jazz and electronic music in popular western styles so successfully, and Dave Liang cooperated with his close friend DJ Jamahl Richardson (also known as NaturalFact or 7-Day Visa project) brought us a nonparallel music party in Mass Moca, MA this July. I am always in favor of New Age, chill out and electronic music, and for years I've collected thousands of CDs in China and USA. Dave's music first came into my eyes from an accidental touch of Di Johnston's vocal album produced by him, and then of course his masterpiece "Miss Shanghai" had enough magic to drag me deep into his whole music kingdom. I was so excited to have the chance to meet him in this live performance, as I knew for these electronic music show, the live version would be quite unique and different from any previously released ones. And Dave didn't disappoint me, his passion, humor and talent gave all of the audiences there an unforgettable night, even those never heard his music before. I wish to go to his live performance again in the future, and I also think releasing a live album containing some of the best mixing pieces from the show like the opening intro and the the Ban Hu (板胡) part in Lu Xun (Watch Me Dance) should not be a bad idea. As usual, I shot some pictures randomly during the show, and since my seat position was set, I couldn't move around and shoot from different angles freely like what I did before. But anyway, here are some of my favorite pieces I'd like to share with any others, which will remind me that wonderful night with The Shanghai Restoration Project ~~~
