I know photography is only part of my hobbies. I might never be a master, but I was really happy whenever I had my camera to capture the beauty and joy around me. Ever since I started my photographic safari, I was always a Canon person basically because I started with Canon 7D DSLR instead of Nikon like others did. I only chose to shoot with top-notch camera bodies as the cheap models could not fit my needs. What i mostly captured were fast movements, low light situations and evanescent emotions. So the bodies I chose always had the ability of high ISO performance, fast burst shooting rate as well as accurate AF systems. Though my primary working body is 5D Mark II, I can't stand the tempt of shooting with Canon 1D series bodies. They are built like tanks, weather sealed and made you feel really confident to shoot in any situations. For this CSSA Valentine's Day party, I wanna test my Canon 1D Mark II, which is my backup body for 5D Mark II, how well it can work in this kind of conditions. For the dances, the fast AF tracking will make it more easily to freeze the motions, yet the limited ISO made me couldn't properly expose my pictures less than 1/160s. At the same time, the ISO 1600 brought out quite a lot of grains in the shadow part if you chose to reveal some parts of it. Thus overall, the images from 1D Mark II in this case are definitely not as crisp as the ones shot by 5D Mark II, but they are still usable and quite good unless one prefers higher resolution for large printing. I believe in the daylight case, 1D Mark II will be a very good body to shoot weddings and sports.
