It has been a long time since I decided to try something new for myself in the field of portrait photography. I've been appealed to glamor and fashion photography for quite some time, learning poses and natural lighting but never got the opportunity to exercise. I happened to step into one of the largest modeling worlds on the internet and immediately overwhelmed by it. My previous photojournalistic style has been serving me quite well until now, but at the same time I am desired for creating something new to open a new door. To shoot different kinds of models with different looks, backgrounds and personalities would be such a great experience, and now all I need to do is to make my first move.
Allie is the first girl there sending me an invitation for her portrait session. She is young and pretty, though not talking much when we first met, yet she gave me full trust and cooperations, based on which we together created a unique set in the long-abandoned Coke Plant in local Troy. The building itself has been left there for over 10 to 15 years, after the others manually exploded a few years ago. It is a fantastic place to shoot in the soft and directional light on Sunday afternoon. After a a few shots with Allie, I quickly grabbed the rhythm and tempo of my own creative visions towards the color, texture, dimension and emotion that I'm looking for. In the end, I also would like to thank my new assistant, Will Ji, who shared his 5D Mark II and 70-200 IS II lens with me. He also helped me take several shots in this album.
This debut album marks a new start of my modeling portraiture project -"Dream Catcher Project". I hope all of you will love it as previous ones. Enjoy and more episodes will come shortly in future weeks ~~~~ :)
